The Oleander System
About Us
We have Dissociative Identity Disorder and we are a plural system.
The system as a whole uses plural or singular they/them or it/its. Individual alters have specified pronouns. Ampersand/you& identifier is preferred when talking about us, when appropriate. If one alter is speaking on their own experience, they will likely default to singular language, but when talking about the whole system, we often use plural language.
We were born in 1999
We are physically, dynamically disabled and chronically ill.
Also diagnosed with: cPTSD, Bipolar 1 w/psychosis, and ADHD.
We’re trans and nonbinary, specifically pluralgender. Different alters have different genders ranging from male, female, nonbinary, agender, genderless, etc. we usually tell singlets that we’re genderfluid because it’s simpler and sometimes safer that way.
Not all alters are listed here, just who feels comfortable with it.

System Structure
Architecture:
Plural DID system. Polyplex system; we are divided into subsystems for organizational purposes. Kinegenic System; fronters usually change throughout the day, but occasionally more front stuck for months to years or with just main fronters around for months/years.Communication:
Mixed external & internal, some internal conflicts between alters. Poor communication skills within headspace.Inner world:
Mainly passive. Restricted for Leo, Littles, and some alters.Knowledge:
Mixed, primarily restricted or managed and shared by Lock. Some alters share.Memory:
Segregated (dissociative amnesia). Occasionally managed and shared with or by Lock. Poor recall due to TBI and other health issues.Switching:
Reactive.Gate:
Kept by Lock, rarely left open, sometimes open due to extreme body states (hunger, exhaustion, and pain).Notes:
Little subsystem is fragmented, however, does contain some full alters and consistent fragments.
Explaining The Ampersand ‘&’
The ‘&’ that I put in with my pronouns (sometimes I write it out as ‘they&’ or sign my name as ‘Lock&’) is symbol used to represent us as a system! It’s common within plural/multiple systems to use plural identifiers and pronouns.I have Dissociative Identity Disorder and I’m a plural system. I use ‘I’ or ‘we’ interchangeably to refer to us, particularly more often we use plural identifiers when referring to the whole system, rather than a specific alter speaking about their own experiences. The ‘&’ specifically refers to the parts of us that you might not be speaking directly to, the whole system, or as a way to honor our experiences as a plural system. How you would use this would be: ‘Lock is a system, they& like to create art’ or when talking to me, one could say, ‘How are you& doing today?’ And when speaking out loud, you would just say ‘you and’ for ‘you&’.It’s completely okay with us if you don’t use plural identifiers or pronouns for us! It also isn’t always applicable! Sometimes, specific alters are the only one with a hobby, experience, etc. or might be the only alter you’ve met. For example, my headmate Leo eats macaroni and cheese with a spoon, but Solanine doesn’t. So to say ‘Lock& eats their mac n cheese with a spoon’ is not true. But we won’t be upset if you use them, or if you don’t!The ampersand is also to help us be recognized by other systems because we really enjoy being in community with people with shared experiences. We hope that being more open about being a system helps create a space for others to also be open in their experiences, and to know they’re not alone.- Lock & The Oleander System
